Could car insurance certificates soon be issued online?
Going paperless is an effective way for businesses to do something for the environment, and it could be that car insurance is about to jump aboard the bandwagon. Speaking at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) Motor Conference, road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick said that action will be taken to send customers their car insurance certificates by email. The ABI reckons a switch could mean “quicker, more convenient and more reliable delivery of these important documents.” We asked Malcolm Tarling of the ABI to tell us more about it. He said that sending standardised documents would reduce forgeries of policies, as well as getting documents to customers more quickly. Apparently the ABI is drawing up plans to make e-delivery of documents as secure as current measures.
