A lot depends upon the type of riding that you do. I do a lot of XC, which means thorns and jagged rocks. I just got a new bike, yeah. Initially I wanted to go with the standard tubes. However, this soon became impractical as I was getting through a new tube every week. I had previously used slime and so returned to this in the short term. Slime is OK, but as Mr Goodyear states, it unbalances you a little. But this is not noticeable (I do not rate Goodyear cycle tyres by the way). The main thing about slime is the weight. It adds quite a bit of rotational weight, which effects the handling. It also noticeably deadens the ride. However, they still do their job, which is why I used them. Note: You can not use existing presta tubes as the valves do not offer enough room to put the slime in. You must buy slime tubes, rather than just the solution (If you use Schreada and remove the valve to insert the solution you have a problem with the talc inside the tube messing with the slime).
