Could an Holocaust for Gypsies hapen again?
Yes, it’s possible. That is why what happened before has to be kept in historical records and in our memories. Pogroms and holocausts happened before the Nazi Holocaust – in the Tsarist Empire against Jews, in Turkey against the Kurds, and throughout earlier European history against Jews and against Gypsies. Pogroms and holocausts have happened since it – Cambodia, Uganda, Rwanda and still there is prejudice against Jews and Gypsies in some Eastern European countries and elsewhere. But we best remember that what happened in Germany happened in a civilised Western country – so it could happen again anywhere. We have to be alert to the signs.
