Could a vegetarian eat the Italian cheese Casu marzu?

I don’t know who in their right mind would eat something like that. If you want to eat maggot cheese go ahead. That’s your decision. If the original cheese does not contain animal rennet it’s vegetarian. As far as the maggots, there are risks you take when you eat that kind of cheese. There is a chance of the cheese being decomposed to a toxic state…many people also get allergic reactions to it. Some people leave the maggots on the cheese to eat it. These maggots are them consumed. There have been reports that people get upset stomach, cramps, and bloody diarrhea when the larvae try to boar their way out the person’s stomach. And if you eat the maggots you are not a vegetarian because vegetarians don’t eat bugs either.
