Could a tumor on the pituitary gland cause irregular and excessive weight gain in a child?

Yes it can. The child could have Cushings disease. I know this because as a very complex Pituitary patient, I have learnt a lot about different diseases caused by having a tumour on the Pituitary Gland, as I had over 20 years ago. The first priority is to get a referral to a Endocrinologist in a good research hospital, who deal with Pituitary diseases and not just a consultant who say they are Endocrinologist, but in fact they deal mostly with Diabetes patients. This can often lead to misinformation, because the diabetic doctor does not have the same amount of expertise as an Endocrinologist, who deals with these very complex and often difficult to diagnose cases.
