Could a brand of blank discs be incompatible with my DVD-R drive?
The discs are probably incompatible with your burner. Personally, I always try to use the same tried and proven setup when burning discs to ensure they are playable on the WIDEST variety of DVD players. 1. Use the same ENCODING software every time. 2. Use the same burning software everytime. 3. Use the same brand of discs. 4. Use the same type of discs (+R or -R) 5. Test this ‘setup’ on a wide variety of DVD players. Expect that anytime you modify your setup, you run the risk of losing some compatibility. 6. if you have the time, you could test a few brands with this ‘workflow’, so you know which brands you can be sure about. Why is DVD burning like this? Each of the components can vary slightly in thier level of compliance to accepted DVD standards. This was made worst by the +R and -R wars that took place years ago. Some 100% compatible devices or software are made to work perfectly with one format but work less than perfectly with another. The manufacturers never tell you this. You
