The cost of each biocide treatment is about $3. 2/ Sea water can contain minerals, colloids, micro silt and other contaminants which over a period of time will deposit a glaze or film on the membranes. These need to be removed if optimum performance is to be maintained and get maximum life from the membrane element. These contaminants fall into two categories:- A/ Metals, oxides, etc. which are removed with acid. B/ Acid insoluble compounds which are removed with alkali.
