Coolant Squirting from Coolant Overflow Tank?
• Check for blockages of the cooling system. • Check your thermostat – it may be busted like this , this and this. Kristian#562 • The squirting nipple is the result of rapid fluid flow from the radiator to the overflow tank. If the cooling system gets too hot the liquid reaches the boiling point even though it is under pressure. Just like water boiling on the stove, air bubbles (steam) develop in the liquid causing it to rapidly expand. The radiator cap releases this pressure (as it’s designed to do) into the overflow tank. The higher than normal pressure in the cooling system can be caused by a faulty fan (in my case), a faulty radiator cap (releasing at less than designed pressure), a faulty thermostat (not allowing coolant to circulate), air in the cooling system (not bleeding air when filling), or an obstruction in the cooling circuit (not expected). Is the over temp light coming on when it squirts? Is the fan working? If the light doesn’t come on then I wouldn’t think you have an
