Considering the global scenario in general and Singapores eco-system in particular, what kind of innovations are desirable in todays times?
Innovators can focus on developing urban solutions. About half the population of the world is going to be living in cities, and IT solutions in security, transport management, energy consumption, urban management and water management, are all going to be key areas to focus on. Apart from these, solutions related to healthcare covering hospital management, the delivery of treatment to people, etc, have also become crucial, considering that complicated diseases are on the rise in cities. In Singapore, we are working with the Housing Development Board (HDB) and the Public Utilities Board (PUB) to develop the solutions that are required in the present scenario. Once we have identified opportunities, , we open the platform for technology companies and facilitate their interaction with statutory bodies to take the dialogue forward on the kind of products/solutions that are required, in order to address the identified needs.
