The Swimmer’s times at time trials might be in a 25 yard pool. Most indoor pools are 25 yards and most outdoor pools are 25 meters – which is a bit longer than 25 yards. The first time your swimmer competes in a meet outdoors, it may seem that he/she is adding time. This may not be the case. A good rule of thumb is to add 2 seconds to the 25 yard time to get the meter time. Important rule to keep in mind: DUAL MEET PROCEDURES; IV. C. Scoring 7. and 8. “Score table personnel should include: announcers, host scorers, visiting scorers, and awards personnel. At NO TIME during the meet should swimmers, parents, and/or spectators interfere with scoring procedures.” This means that no one from each team except a coach may be there; who must work with the OPPOSING team scorer on all matters (C. 8). Please do not approach the scoring table if you are not one of the above.
