Not even close. Conceptualization has to do with generalizing from specifics or forming general ideas, basically thinking abstractly. Contextualization has to do with understanding the surrounding elements (the “context”) of an idea, thing, phenomenon, or event. So, the definition of contextualization is: “To place in, or treat as part of, a context; spec. to study (phonemes, words, etc.) in contexts. So con{smm}textuali{sm}zation, the act or result of contextualizing” Conceptualization, on the other hand is defined as “To form a concept or idea of.” In a sense, they are close to opposites. One goes from the specific to the general (conceptualization); the other can go from the general–a phenomenon–to the specifics–its factual context (contextualization).
