Compulsory military service is outdated for young people,how far do u agree with this statement?
Compulsory military service made sense when war was about sheer force of numbers. That went out of date when they invented the machine gun. War is now more about technology and servicemen need a high degree of training – certainly not suited for those who couldn’t pay attention at school. Military style training and drill is a method of teaching discipline and certainly has its uses. Sports training uses the same techniques. Some kind of training should be available to young people, although the biggest mistake was to abolish discipline in schools. Once again, we have the problem of resources. We can afford hospitals or training young people – but both would involve more tax and there’s no votes in that.
