Comp Eng is all hardware, and Software Eng all software, right?
Wrong. All engineering programs are about designing systems. In Computer Engineering, these systems are an integration of hardware and software; in fact, there is at least as much software design topics in Comp Eng as Comp Sci. Often students combine this with related specialisations such as Telecommunications. Software Eng concentrates on techniques for ensuring reliability of software systems, but includes hardware topics to the level of device characteristics. What it doesn’t have is the full coverage of the electronics technologies that support the hardware.
