Commonwealth Supported or Assisted Students – How do I apply for a remission of my Student Learning Entitlement (SLE) or HELP debt?
In general, if a Commonwealth supported student withdraws from any course after the course census date, he or she is deemed to have incurred any HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP liability associated with that course, and to have consumed any associated Student Learning Entitlement (SLE). However it is recognised that special circumstances may apply to students who withdraw from courses after the census date, related to medical, personal/family, employment or program-related reasons. Such students are eligible to apply for the: • Remission of any HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP debt incurred for the course(s); and/or • Refund of any Student Contributions paid upfront; and • Re-crediting of any associated SLE.
