Command Cost (CC) is mentioned in a single paragraph in 3.6.3.7 and not directly referenced in the combat example. A clearer definition would be nice, perhaps in a key in source materials?
Command Cost (CC) is only used when building squadrons, and then only to determine how many other units may be included in the command ships squadron. The CC of all non-command ship units in a squadron cannot exceed the command ships Command Rating (CR). Once task force creation is complete, the CC has no further bearing on combat. Command Rating (CR) and Command Cost (CC) are 1 to 1, so a squadron whose command ship has a CR of 8 can include: • two (2) ships with a CC 3 and one (1) with a CC 2 • one (1) ship with a CC 3, two (2) with a CC 2, and one (1) with a CC 1 • any combination of CC equal to or less than 8 Note that the CC of the squadron command ship does not count against its CR. Applicable Rules: CG 3.6.3.
