Coming to outsourcing, whats the situation in the US and the UK?
The backlash has come down significantly. It’s almost yesterday’s news. Having said that, I think the US is still struggling with the idea of how to deal with the social aspect of outsourcing in terms of jobs that go out of the country. But I think the solutions coming up are more considered and constructive. Some countries like the US have come to terms with outsourcing, but some in Europe have to settle down. India is still doing low-end BPO work… It’s a matter of natural progression. In the outsourcing space, the generalist area is pretty crowded. It’s tough to break into that crowd. That said, there is an opportunity in the specialist area—where you have specific domain expertise and depth of knowledge that exceeds the generalists. Wipro’s BPO team was increasing the mix of high-end work where there was the greatest degree of flexibility to manage processes, where you get to sell an outcome, not an activity.
