Coach Kelly Daniels led Lakers to nationals last spring. Can he do it again?
It’s approximately two hours before the first serve and the head coach of Longview’s volleyball team Kelly Daniels strolls in. Professionally equipped with his Lady Lakers volleyball t-shirt tucked into his khaki shorts, a duffel bag slung around his left shoulder and sneakers with crew socks to finish off the outfit. A couple of players greet him, he extends a hearty hello and a blissful smile; a smile that Daniels wears like a golfer plays in plaid, all the time, and for no obvious reason. He then heads to his office, where he has to find his way through a maze of boxes that overflow his cubicle to get to his desk. He heads back out to the front to introduce himself to the visiting team’s head coach and directs the team to the locker room they will be using.
