There’s a lot of hip hop artists that focus on socially conscious issues or even less violent ones even downright nerdy issues. Can I direct you to MF DOOM, Del The Funkee Homosapien, MC Frontalot or Aesop Rock. I wouldn’t be some opinionated about this, but I too hated hip hop about a year ago. I’ve been listening to artists like those above and it’s now one of my favorites. The radio doesn’t represent all of a genre, you’re a podcaster you should know all about indie.
