Cloud votes correctly, Was Sunshine Law violated?
Last Thursday, even though their meeting hall was fairly crowded, the St Cloud Council voted how they should have. Yes, it was a tough vote, but allowing a concrete plant to locate in an already properly zoned property was correct. Nearby COUNTY residents complained that the industrially zoned property was too close to where they lived. However, Jeff McCorkle correctly told them the property had been zoned industrial long before their homes were constructed. (another example of buyer beware?) People were not happy as they left city hall saying they’d return for the second reading. Good luck! St Cloud’s new Stormwater Utility “Fee” has been in effect for a month but, now the bills are coming out and people are noticing the additional $6.35 per month that has now been added to their bills. We understand the possible needs for “fees”, but why can’t governments call them what they really are, a TAX?
