Clothes Washer Rebate Questions What is the Modified Energy Factor?

0

Modified Energy Factor (MEF) is an equation that replaced the Energy Factor as a way to compare the relative efficiency of different units of clothes washers. MEF takes into account the amount of dryer energy used to remove the remaining moisture content in washed items, along with the energy used to run the washer and heat the water. The Modified Energy Factor divides the capacity of the clothes container by the total clothes washer energy consumption per cycle, hot water energy consumption and the energy required for removal of the remaining moisture in the wash load. A higher MEF means a more efficient unit.
