Claimants speak more than 150 different languages – how many languages will be used on Board forms?
Most Board forms include a paragraph in Spanish that asks the claimant to contact the Board if the claimant has any questions. The Board will provide a notice to claimants in the four most common primary languages of claimants (other than English): written Chinese (applicable to various spoken Chinese dialects), Spanish, Russian and Polish. These four languages account for more than 90% of claimants who are not proficient in English. This notice will be enclosed with every proposed decision and will advise the claimant to contact the Board with any questions.
