Chyavanprash is synonymous with Ayurveda for the common man in India. How can we identify the genuine from adulterated products which are also available in the market?
Ans. Chyavanprash Rasayana is in the form of Avaleha and in preparation of this medicine, certain classical parameters / testing procedures are adopted to know its genuine preparation apart from modern standard parameters.It should have a chocolate brown colour, and when pressed with the fingers, fingerprints are seen on it, and it shouldn’t stick to fingers. It should have a slight astringent smell and the taste should be mildly astringent or bitter and should not be too sweet.
