DONT PUT KIDS TO BED WITH ANYTHING TO DRINK…its a simple matter of physics…our eustacian tube is all connected between our mouth, throat, ears and eyes..its why when we cry our nose runs, and it you sneeze you get teary eyed…anyway…when your child falls asleep drinking some of the fluid stays floating around in the mouth throat or palatte and puts pressure or crimps the eustacian tube and does not allow the tube to be patent (open) and all with area with our sinuses (the eustacian tube, our actual sinus cavity and small tear ducts to the eye should remain open AT ALL TIMES or infections due to pressure will result…put your child into the bed…give them a few sips or WATER (nothing but water after a child has brushed their teeth for the night) then NOTHING while laying down..NOT EVEN WITH A PILLOW UNDER THEIR HEAD…its just not ebough of an angle to allow ALL the fluid to drain out of the childs throat and sinus/eustacian tube/cavity

I’m so glad that I am not the only one going through this! My little boy is also 20 months and we just went through the same thing. He got 2 ear infections in 2 months and the doctor said that going to bed with a sippy of milk is not only bad for their teeth but can also contribute to ear infections. He is so attached to his cup, might as well be a bottle actually, that I thought it was going to be awful. Now he only gets water in his cup when he goes to sleep and it’s only been a month or so and he’s doing fine with it. What we did was gave him a snack and a cup of milk when we would normally put him to bed. So after he ate his snack and drank his milk he was tired and full so when we laid down, he didn’t really have room to drink the milk so he didn’t mind the water. It worked great for us. Now we’re working on getting away from so much milk throughout the day. I swear the kid is addicted.

try giving it to her before she goes into bed. Tell her she can have her milk but it will not be in bed. Try giving her something else in bed something special. I know it is hard but it has to be done. Taking the cup away and not giving it to her at all in bed is the best thing, it will be rough at first but she will get the point. My son was like that with his pacifiers, so we got him the fish aquarium that plays music and hr loves it.

My daughter is the same way. She’ll be 3 in January. Instead of milk, it’s juice and I have watered it down as far as I possibly can without it being straight water. She now has 2 cavities that I have to get filled (one is in her front tooth 🙁 ) Wish I could help, but I’m in the same boat. A star for you so that maybe I can get some help too.
