Chessmaster 8000 uses far more of the CPU than previous versions, sometimes as much as 100% for as long as Im playing the game! Why is that, and could it be damaging to my processor?
Thanks to the WinBoard protocol, chess engines are completely separate executable programs that can control as much of your computer’s CPU as Windows will allow. Since chess engines want to play as strongly as possible, they want to take as much of the CPU as they can! Different engines behave differently, but The King (the engine in Chessmaster 8000) is one of those engines that is hungry for your computer’s CPU.
