Checking this out…what does itmean if my chameleon is skinny and dark?
If your chameleon is dark and skinny, it is a pretty good iindication that it is sick. Here is a short checklist for you: 1. Are the temperatures right for that specie. Usually a chameleon turns darker becuase it is too cold. 2. Another reason it may be dark is due to stress. Often when a chameleon is set up in a new home, it will stress out and will take time to acclimate. Give it plenty of foliage and privacy. 3. Skinny is not good, usually a sign of parasites and should have a fecal done immediately. If not parasiites, it may be not eating. If it will not eat for you then you might want to make a mix for handfeeding the chameleon. Remember, this may stress the chameleon out even more. 4. How do the eyes look? If they are sunken is, then it is dehydrated, several warm mistings and drippings each day should help it get rehydrated.
