Cheap infrequent home colour printing?
I have this solid ink Xerox printer and love it irrationally. It is enormous and pricier than a color laser printer, but the print quality is much better and much faster (we have both at work, I use the solid ink even though laser is next to my desk), and since the ink comes in these crayon-like blocks, there’s nothing to dry out or clog. Might work well for what you need.
I have a Canon i9900 (an inkjet). I only use it maybe twice a year (when I do use it, I use it quite a bit) and the ink has never dried out on me. I still have the original ink cartridges in there (almost 2 years later) and only this month have had to replace ink (only 2 / 7 cartridges were used up). (I’ve printed maybe 15- 13x19in photos, 10- 8.5x11in photos, 25- 4x6in photos, 100 full color business cards.) I don’t think this particular printer is sold anymore, but I’m sure it’s replacements are just as good.
