Carol from Washington, DC: Where did the inspiration for Jeremy come from?
Jack Kerley: Thin air, basically. I was thinking of an institutionalized madman as Carson Ryder’s brother, but didn’t want to end up with a clone of Hannibal Lecter, almost a pop culture icon. So I took my character in another direction: loud, self-aggrandizing, insecure, but with a slight undercurrent of humor. Jeff from Nashville, TN: I was just curious if Carson was going to have a different girlfriend in every book or will he eventually settle on one. I like the characters you create and was just wondering. Jack Kerley: Each book is its own journey, but with previous characters weaving in and out. Danielle Danbury seems to have made an impression on Carson — as well as helped him out — but Ava Davanelle (from THE HUNDREDTH MAN) is still out there somewhere as well.
