Car Insurance – How much of my premium would I get back?
Firstly, I’d make a formal complaint. You’ve complied with their wishes, and have proof that you sent the letter and that it was signed for, so it should be with the company somewhere. There is no reason that a letter that was signed for to disappear into thin air like this, and they’re not doing themselves any favours in terms of reputation. Before you cancel with them, try and get this matter straight, otherwise under their cancellation terms you could end up paying a heavy cancellation fee plus a percentage of your premium back (which is not always pro-rated, especially in the first year of a policy), so this could leave you out of pocket. Another thing you could do (most insurers will be happy to do this for you), is to ask them to contact your previous insurer and request verbal proof of NCD.
