Yes. The draft Management Plan for the Regional Park prepared by CALM supports the use of the park for both conservation and recreation. For example, the plan already includes the continuation of private lease areas at Cape Peron. Similarly, the draft management plan recognises that development of marina facilities and infrastructure may occur within the park. A full copy of the draft plan is available via the News and Resources links. Social Will the project improve public access to Cape Peron Yes. A key goal is to have extensive public areas included within the project area. Much of Cape Peron is leased and the general community are excluded from these areas. Even the public areas of Cape Peron have few pathways to allow community access. The project presents an opportunity to improve public access to all of Cape Peron and its beaches. In addition it is likely the project will include some affordable family holiday accommodation.

Point Peron does need a bit of a spruce up. We have a beautiful natural resource there that could do with some cycle paths and restaurants etc. What the majority of people haevn’t seen is the plan showing the private canal precinct right in the centre of a 70 hectare development. It isn’t just a marina in the ocean like the plan for Wanliss St. The average local citizen wont be able to afford to keep their boat penned there and unless you have a spare million to purchase your private canal front home this project probably wont benefit you. We should look at other options before letting this go ahead. It is a designated "Bushland Forever" site.
