Can MATC filter SPAM messages?
MATC does have hardware in place that examines all incoming email messages for spam. Being a very diverse educational institution does make filtering a little harder. What is spam to one person is not necessarily spam to another person. In an academic environment where faculty and students may be researching a wide variety of topics, we try to error on the side of NOT blocking legitimate emails. With that said, there are a number of options open to you to help cut down on the amount of spam you receive. 1. We do block messages originating from well known spammers (based on the FortiGuard, vendor provided list) that are addressed to the Student Email system. 2. We also block ‘Image Spam’ messages that are addressed to the Student Email System. 3. We do offer both of the above as an option for faculty and staff.
