Can’t I just use eBay’s incremental bidding system?
• No. eBays’ bidding feature called “Incremental Bidding”, is different then bid sniping. With eBay’s Incremental Bidding system, like sniping, you enter the highest price you are willing to pay for the auction item. Unlike sniping, eBay’s Incremental Bidding system will immediately enter a bid for you to make you the new high bidder. The system will then be checked every now and then to make sure you are still the high bidder. If you have been outbid, eBay’s Incremental Bidding system will then place a new bid for you to make you the high bidder again. This will continue either until the end of the auction, you are the high bidder or your maximum bid has been reached. One problem with eBay’s Incremental Bidding system is that it can drive up the bids on an item. Since other bidders can see your bid before the end of the auction, you can end up in a bidding war and if two or more bidders use eBay’s Incremental Bidding system on the same item, the bid will quickly be driven up.
