Can you wear character shoes for flamenco dancing?
Character shoes are appropriate in dancing the colorful folkdance sevillanas – often thought to be flamenco. To do the rythmic zapatero (footwork) you need the nails on the sole which you can have shoemakers do if you don’t have authentic Spanish flamenco shoes available. I did this 2 times, when I first started and later when I was in Mexico city and an unexpected opportunity came up on vacation. Spanish shoes are sturdier and have different heel sizes depending on your level.
