Can You Tile Over Laminate Counter Tops?
If you would like to tile over a laminate countertop, you must prepare the countertop first. Most countertops are made of either plywood or OSB (oriented stranded board), and wood products absorb humidity in the air. Then when the air dries out, so does the wood. If tile is applied directly to a laminate surface, it will simply pop off when humidity increases and then decreases. But if the countertop is prepared correctly, tile will stay securely applied for many years.
