Can you throw a show in a reception hall and have people pay to get in?
It depends on where you live and your local jurisdictions – you may or may not first off need a business license. Otherwise – yeah – why not if that’s how you are trying to make a living. If you are talking a local hall like a fire hall or something like that you can get those as cheap as $500 for 4 hrs – but a bigger nicer hall will be more like $2000.00 You can’t really charge more than $20 a ticket tops since you are just starting out – maybe $15 more reasonably so – so be sure to do your math – how many people the hall allows – hopefully you can sell that many tickets – minus the cost of the hall will equal your take. Sometimes the hall supplies the sound system sometimes not so if you don’t have that – that’s another price to consider. Also some halls supply security – but some do not. More cost. If not you probably HAVE to as most locals require that these days.
