Can you think of any fun hands-on art activities for Kindergarten?
Art usually ends up on the craftier side of things. If your trying to stay away from that you could look at the different side of Fine Arts. Instead of Visual Arts you could do dance, drama, or music. An idea could be to take a story book they are familiar with an have them act it out. Make them become a part of the story. Have them show you how inanimate objects would act as well as the story characters. One art project I have done with kindergarteners and grade 4’s was to give them all a large sheet of paper and have them spread out around the room (find their own personal space), turn on some music (classical stuff like Beethoven works well) and have them draw how the music moves or makes them feel. They shouldn’t be drawing “real pictures” but more lines, squiggles, etc… and in many colors. You may need to demonstrate this first for more success.
