Can You Texture & Paint Over Adhesive?

Texturing and painting over adhesive can be tricky, because there are so many types of adhesives. Wallpaper glue residue on walls can cause paint and texture to start cracking months after it’s been painted. Silicone adhesives will bleed through latex paintor the paint will simply bead up on the surface. Some older paneling or vinyl floor adhesives contain asbestos and cannot be removed safely, but can be sealed and encapsulated with paint. If the adhesive simply can’t be removed, take no chances and use a good primer before doing any type of painting or texturing.
