There are many good a/c manufactures. They generally use a number of parts that are manufactured by various companies and, will give you good service for many years. All a/c units have basically the same parts that include compressor, evaporator, condenser, and fans. If you are considering buying a window a/c unit check with your local stores about which units they offer for sale. Check the warranty and S.E.E.R. rating. The higher the S.E.E.R. rating the better their energy efficiency. Also generally speaking the longer the warranty the better the unit and an a/c unit with a reciprocal compressor will generally preform longer than one with a rotary compressor although, a rotary compressor is usually a little quieter than a reciprocal compressor. DT & PT refer to how the energy effeicency ratings are calculated. It a rather complecated formula and, companies will use which ever calculation gives them the highest rating.
