Can you suggest a way for me to run 10 km at a stretch by December?
Hi – I started running in May with a short 10 week plan to run for 30 minutes then I continued to lengthen the time I ran and found a route that was 5 k (you can use free mapping tools like map my run once you want to know how long a route is) and then ran a 10k in the September and another in December. I trained 3 times a week, two shorter runs and then a longer one at the weekend. You will not be as slow as me I bet (I’m in my 40s overweight and not that fit) and my best time so far is 1 12 mins and I am at the back of the pack just jogging along. The start running plan I followed was on the beginrunning.com web and the secret is to run for a bit then walk, run then walk for 30 mins at a time, increasing over the weeks the length of time running. It may seem easy to you if you have a good base level of fitness, but stick with it because it trains you up without getting to the point where you’ve pushed too hard and hurt. I was amazed as I had not run for more than 5 minutes before wit
