Can you sue the Police station for an accident caused by high speed chase?
To begin with, the Deputies are not responsible, but the guy who caused the chase. Hear me out. The guy who started the chase, for whatever reason, was concidered to be a danger to society, so much so, that the chase ensued. He could have been anything from simply drunk to a wanted murderer, you don’t know. The police do. As far as the police backing off, that is a matter of departmental policy. Most will continue the chase until he is caught. If cars could just speed away, and not get chased, everyone would do it. So, to get back to your car, the subject who was being chased caused the police to follow him. Any damage that was done, was done because HE started the chase. The chase started in thier jurisdiction, and continued into another, this is not uncommon. Due to the fact they were in pursuit, jusristical lines do not hav to be upheld.
