Can you still do sit ups the first couple months of pregnancy?

You should consult with your doctor even if you are continuing your pre-pregnancy exercise routine, and especially if you are just starting any kind of exercise routine. (And from personal experience, let me tell you that tummy crunches work MUCH better at strengthening and toning your ab muscles). It’s likely your doc will tell you to go ahead and do stomach exercises, but again, double check. It is safe to do stomach exercises throughout the pregnancy, but after the first trimester, docs do NOT recommend that a pregnant woman lies on her back. Therefore, you’ll have to find a different way to exercise the abs, and there’s tons of books and magazines that have suggestions (try Fit Pregnancy magazine). The third trimester is when you need to tone it down most, and at any point in your pregnancy, if you feel odd in any way or very fatigued while exercising, stop for the day. Hope this helps!
