Can you still cash a business check from someone at their bank when they write “Deposit Only” on the FRONT of the check?

That’s kind of a tough one. I’m a bank teller and I’ve never seen anyone present a check to someone that way. I’ve seen our account holders deposit their own checks from their other bank accounts that way, but never to another person. My gut instinct would tell me that if it were made out that way, I wouldn’t cash it for a non-customer. It would have to be made out to the person cashing it or made out to “cash.” You’re best shot is to deposit it at your bank, or have the person write you a new check. If these aren’t options, you might ask the teller at their bank to call the check writer to verify they wrote the check for you. That is something I’d be willing to do if necessary.
