Can you speak to any “lessons learned” from an IT perspective in regard to ERP acqusition and implementation?
North Carolina: When embarking on an initiative as large as BEACON, make sure you have the right expertise in place to guide the project on a day to day basis. Our PMO was comprised of a team that had a successful track record of numerous large scale on time and under budget projects. Without this experience we would not have had the vision to react quickly and keep the project on track. South Carolina: Know your culture and acquire an ERP that best fits that culture. Q: Do I understand that N.C. has included its legislature in its governance process? Is this formalized? North Carolina: From an Executive management perspective, the legislature is not active in the BEACON implementation. Their focus was in the early stages as they received our analysis of risk, cost, and consequence. However, we are consistently reporting to standing committees of the legislature on the status of the project as well as the annual appropriations review. Q: Do either of your states have bargaining unit st
