Your HS 21s was manufactured in West Germany by H. Schmidt Ostheim and imported by Sportarms of Miami. The one I have is marked 22 mag. on the barrel and it came with an extra cylinder to shoot 22 lr. Being the 22 mag is a slightly larger diameter than the 22 lr I am not sure that it would work in the opposit [ a barrel marked 22 lr]. Being that the 22 mag is a larger diameter it would create more pressure not to mention double the powder behind it. I know I would not try it without first getting an ok from the manufacture. Anyone one that does not own or has not fired a 22 mag from a revolver marked 22 lr manufactured by H Schmidt Ostheim is not speaking from experience, they are guessing from the experience they have with a different revolver that was designed to do so. The Ruger and Colt convertible barrels are bored for the 22 mag. which is .223, the 22 lr is .221. The main concern is back pressure. 22 rimfire heads are made from rolled stock and are very weak.
