Can you really fall asleep in a field of poppies like in The Wizard of Oz?
, you most likely wouldn’t fall asleep just from being in a field of poppies like in ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Poppies must be harvested. In areas where they’re cultivated, they still may be harvested by more primitive means that leave harvesters unprotected from the elements. Traditionally, harvesters use manual means and aren’t paid well. So traditionally they never are encouraged to sleep on the job!
