No, you can’t do that. Anything that is on your ipod has to be in your itunes library. So, therefore you can not put songs straight from a cd to my ipod without importing them onto the itunes library.

You can save music files to your iPod without iTunes but then the iPod can’t play them, in other words use it like a USB storage device. If you want to play songs on your iPod then you use iTunes.
