Can you please define and provide examples of place-based revitalization and reform projects (see pages 35 and 53)?
Place-based policies leverage investments by focusing resources in targeted places and drawing on the compounding effect of well-coordinated action. Effective place-based policies can influence how rural and metropolitan areas develop, ultimately affecting the health of the population. Often these investments are housed in other federal agencies, presenting opportunities for collaboration. These could include efforts funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and programs supported by other agencies such as the Corporation for National and Community Service, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Park Service.
