Depends on your interpretation of heavyweight champion; certainly modern times and the plethora of sanctioning bodies that now inhabit boxing mean there are many who claim to be heavyweight champion. If we keep the discussion to fighters who’ve held either the linear title, which is what preceded the fragmentation of the championship we now endure, alongside the modern day WBC, IBF, WBA and latterly WBO belts then I believe the answer is something like this. 1 – Nicolay Valuev – WBA Champion Official heights vary on the giant from Russia, but 7ft 1 is the much proferred figure. 2 – Primo Carnera – approx 6ft 8-10 Briefly champion, the Italian was a huge man at a time when the average male height was significantly shorter than present standards. 3 – Vitaly Klitschko – approx 6ft 8 Became champion with a victory over some mediocre opponents following his gutsy if failed attempt to dethrone Lennox Lewis. 4 – Henry Akinwande – approx 6ft 7 5 – Lennox Lewis – approx 6-6 6 – Wladimir Klitsch
