The Visigoths established their Tolosa Kingdom in Spain 419 AD. The Rugians took over Italy in 476; they were conquered by the Ostrogoths in 493, who set up their own kingdom in Italy. The Franks took over most of what had been Roman Gaul by 486. Burgundians (modern Low Countries), conquered by the Franks 534 Alamanni (ruled territory either side of the river Rhine in what is now modern Germany), conquered by the Franks 496. The Vandals conquered North Africa and set uo a kingdom their in 442. The Saxons set up their first independent kingdom in Britain in Kent, 455. Frisians (northwest Germany and eastern Netherlands), conquered by the Franks 690.
