Can you name significant examples in history of group prejudice?
At the transition between the 19th and 20th century, there was a crazy group of people called populists who believed that ordinary people should be helped by the government. Those in power thought they were a lunatic fringe (communists). This is a classic conflict between those with money and those without much money, power, or hope. During the early 20th century, the populists won rights to protect themselves from powerful corporations. Workers had the right to form unions and strike. FDR was a champion of the people. The media tends to downplay economic conflict and call it “class warfare” In fact, it populism is needed now more than ever. Racial conflicts have more play in the media.
