Can you name an Academy Award winner who didn deserve to win?
When it comes down to it, the Oscars definitely have some politics involved, and I am sure I could name several years in which I would have preferred a different actor to win versus another, but MOST of the time I feel all are derserving to be recognized…. BUT – with that said, there are a few that baffle me: Cuba Gooding Jr. for Jerry Maguire…at the time, I didn’t necessarily think he was too bad, but now I think he just lucked out. Proof for that reasoning is that he hasn’t made a decent movie since… George Clooney for “Syriana”…now, I hate to piss off all you George fans, but I hated this movie. If you want cited examples of Oscar politics — this is the best one in recent years. Clooney was miscast in a dull movie that only got attention because of its political message. Now, if he were nominated perhaps for directing/acting in “Good Night and Good Luck”, then, I would have no complaints.
